When rekeying is the right call

• You have just moved in and do not know how many keys are out there
• A key has been lost or stolen
• A tenant, housemate, cleaner or contractor has moved on
• An employee left and the office keys did not come back
• You are carrying four keys for four doors and want one
• A relationship ended and the locks are still shared

When replacement makes more sense

Rekeying reuses the lock you already have, so it cannot fix a lock that is worn out, corroded, damaged in a break-in, or simply low grade to begin with. If the hardware is failing, or you want a genuine step up in security, replacement is the honest recommendation — and we will tell you that rather than rekey something that should be retired.

One key for the whole house

Front door, back door, garage side door, pool gate, shed. Different brands and different keyways can often still be rekeyed to a single key, which means one key on the ring and one key to copy for family.
